Eero Järnefelt

Eero Järnefelt was among the recognized masters of Finnish art during its so called Golden Age. He is particularly well known for his sensitive, even lyrical sceneries, his Koli landscapes, naturalistic outdoor paintings and humorous studies of peasants.  He became particularly popular for his perceptive portraits, but felt uncomfortable with self-portraits.  However, his numerous intimate portraits of the family circle fall naturally within this theme.

This website aims at expounding on his life and art.
